I love this movie.
A lot.
Like, a lot a lot.
If someone were to write a movie specifically for ME, this would be it. Throughout the entire thing I was sitting in the theater with a ridiculous grin on my face from ear to ear.
Seriously though, did I mention how much I love this movie?
Okay ramblers, let’s get ramblin’.
I get that this new Disney film is actually based on an older intellectual property than the Terminator series, but they should know better. Context matters.
You can’t just name the movie after the protagonist (who just so happens to have a strikingly similar name to one of the most famous protagonists in recent film history) and not expect people to scratch there heads.
The name ‘John Connor’ has a place in popular culture as humanity’s only hope for survival in our inevitable war against machines. My personal opinion is that Disney really should have taken that into consideration.
I know I wouldn’t want everyone’s first reaction to my new, blockbuster film to be, “hey, that sounds like that other guy.”
Growing up, my mom would usually say things like, “You know, when you’re married… blah blah blah.”
Lately her language has changed to, “If you get married… blah blah blah.”
It may just be political correctness and her desire not to be presumptuous etc.
… But it’s terrifying.

Idol Thoughts
Auditions are over, thank goodness. My problem this year with auditions was there weren’t enough of them. I still enjoy the new judges and the show is a lot more fun than it used to be. But the editing is my concern now. It seemed like we only saw one audition per show segment. We used to knock out a handful.
I’m afraid this underexposure to contestants will be a detriment to building an emotional connection with the show during Hollywood week and beyond. The beauty of Hollywood week and group night is seeing all these personalities clash and destroy one another. It’s wonderful. But the only personalities we know are a couple of human interest pieces, most of which I’ve already forgot.
Not only that, I don’t think we’ve seen that much talent. So when we get to the top 24, I’m not sure how many we’ll have already seen from auditions. It might be a lot of new people. Obviously the producers anticipate this and highlight folks from auditions who they know make it further, but if that’s the case, this year may not be too great talent wise. I can count on one hand the number of voices I’ve heard who I think legitimately have a shot.
We’ll have to see how it plays out. I’m cautiously optimistic going into Hollywood week. I had a great time watching last year, we’ll just have to see if the new setup for the show can repeat that success.
Every camera, every phone,

Behold! The back of my phone. Now covered with a Killspencer Zebrawood backing. It’s much thinner than I anticipated which is a good thing and went on very easily. I’ve only had it for a day so far but I love it. It feels great in the hand, smooth texture, unique look. Just a wonderful product.

I am hard-pressed to find anything more annoying than these little bastards.
(Especially when I ask if I need one even though I don’t intend on drinking and I’m told I have to have one just to be there. Ugh.)
To me it’s not a legislative issue, it’s just good manners. You’re not being un-American when you burn the flag, you’re just being a big pain in the ass.

The supreme court has now turned the issue of abortion over to the states… Hey folks, the states can’t pave fuckin’ roads, okay?

Video Essay: Deep Focus: Superman Returns -
I’m so upset that I didn’t think to write or create this before. It’s a brilliant, poignant look at one of my favorite movies: Superman Returns. I’m not exaggerating when I say this movie changed my life. So to see it taken so seriously and explained so well, means a lot to me. Now I’m thinking of making my own video essay perhaps. I’d love to take the time to dive into a film I love…
