Golden Globes – BG’s Thoughts

2024 presentation, reviewing 2023 releases.

Jo Koy did an abhorrent job hosting.

I’ve said it for years: there should be NO host. Awards shows should open with a tasteful montage of the year in reviews, then the PA announcer brings up the first presenters.

On presenters: The Keri Russell / Ray Romano bit was legitimately hilarious.

Generally happy with all the winners. Not a lot of surprises. I think the Oscars will be a pretty predictable after this.

My only major disagreement was Gladstone winning best actress in a drama over Greta Lee. Gladstone did a phenomenal job, don’t get me wrong. But she was also sidelined for a third of the movie. Lee was basically in every scene and *carried* the whole picture.

Emma Stone and Cillian Murphy were both very deserving of their awards.

I’m particularly pleased to see Christopher Nolan win his first best director and best picture awards. Which I presume will repeat itself at the Oscars.
